The page is a Flash movie, with embedded code in Action Script 2.0, allowing interaction with the page. Once the page finishes downloading, you will need to activate the code by either left clicking anywhere on the image, or pressing the space bar on your keyboard.
The Home Page will appear as shown below (without the yellow patches). In the centre of the animation there are two sliding glass doors which slide left and right respectively, when you move your mouse over the center of the animation (the zone indicated by the vertical yellow rectangle overlapping both doors). All the Flash interactive controls are indicated by the yellow rectangles and a description of each is given in 'The Embedded Flash Controls' section below.
The Embedded Flash Controls.
There are eleven 'hotspots' in the Home Page. These are located as shown above by the yellow rectangles.
They are:
- down the middle of the animation overlapping both the doors (opens the doors on rollover).
- covering the brickwork above the doors to the top of the animation which closes the doors on rollover.
- on the sign to the left of centre with the arrow pointing right labelled " Reactor " activates a link on left-click which takes you to the opening page for the Reactor Section of the site (html, may contain frames and large gif images and some Flash media).
- on the sign to the left of centre with the arrow pointing left labelled "Test lab" activates a link on left-click which takes you to the site Flash experimental pages.
- on the brickwall entrance to corridor leading to the reactor control room is an ID card swipe, which is a link to a login (and registration form) and members only pages.
- located over the pigeon hole in the mail boxes to the right of centre over the slot labelled 'Webmaster' activates the "mailTo method" addressing an email to the Webmaster,
- located over the pigeon hole in the mail boxes to the right of centre above the label 'About Us' activates a link to the "About Us" page.
- located over the pigeon hole in the mail boxes to the right of centre over the slot labelled 'Forms' which provides a link to HiFARClockCo forms.
- located over the bookshelf in the mail boxes to the right of centre which is a link to a page of useful references
- On the left window pane is a sign labelled "HELP? click me" which when left clicked opens this page.
- On the brick wall adjacent to the window (LHS) over the pinboard with photographs, when left clicked takes you to a thumbnail gallery.
***Note that to access the clickable buttons, the doors must be open by first 'mousing-over' the middle of the animation.***

Closer Look?
Zoom in/out. Depending on your browser, you may zoom in anywhere on the image by either using the browser's 'view' menu, or simply right-clicking to open a view options box. Once zoomed in, you can drag the image around by holding down the left mouse button and dragging the image to where you want to see the detail. Zoom back out again by right clicking to invoke the view options dialog box.
Night time
There is a set of vertical blinds which, depending on the time indicated by your computer's clock, will either draw across the left-most window pane and close, or simply stay out of view on the left hand side of the window. Currently, the blind is set to close when your system time is 6:00 PM or later. At this time, some shading is also adjusted by degrees, on the outside of the building to simulate night-fall. (Just to give the page a different view depending on the time of day). The image below shows the Home Page with the blinds drawn but not yet shut:

The image below shows the Home Page with the blinds closed and the shade applied:

Finally in the foreground, there are the three HiFAR clocks which are scripted to pick up your system time and update the hands on the clocks and in the background an animation which provides a good rendition of the HiFAR Control Room, looking past the RSS's desk.
The clock surrounds were fabricated in Fireworks 8, and the hands animated with Flash Action script 2.0. The background animation was compiled using Autodesk Animator Studio in the .AVI format and converted to .GIF using Jasc's Animation Shop 3.
